A pedagogia de Paulo Freire à luz de desafios fundamentais da sociedade global

Neste artigo, efetua-se uma abordagem ao pensamento do pedagogo Paulo Freire, a partir da perspetiva dos atuais desafios de uma sociedade globalizada. O ponto de partida é a demanda por uma "grande transformação", que leve a uma mudança na autocompreensão dos indivíduos, bem como a um novo tipo de convivência pessoal e estrutural. Na pedagogia da libertação de Freire, os aspetos que anunciam o novo e, assim, sustentam os processos de transformação, são retomados sob este prisma. O autor identifica traços de uma busca pelo que constitui e sustenta fundamentalmente o ser humano, o tema central das religiões e da espiritualidade.

Paulo Freire's pedagogy in the light of fundamental challenges of global society

Abstracts

This article reads the educator Paulo Freire from the perspective of the current challenges of a globalised society. The starting point is the demand for a "great transformation" that leads to a changed self-understanding of individuals as well as to a new kind of personal and structural coexistence. In Freire's liberation pedagogy, the aspects that herald the new and thus underpin transformation processes are taken up from this perspective. The author identifies traces of a search for what constitutes and fundamentally sustains human beings - the central topic of religions and spirituality.
